Fun Facts About Paper
Recycling
Did you know that...

Enough office waste paper is thrown away each year to build a 12-
foot wall between Los Angeles and New York City.
- One ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees or 7,000 gallons of water.
- One ton of recycled paper uses: 64% less energy, 50% less water, 74%
less air pollution, and creates 5 times more jobs than one ton of paper products from
virgin wood pulp.
- One ton of recycled paper saves 3,700 pounds of lumber and 24,000
gallons of water.
- Today, nearly 45% of all paper products in the U.S. are recycled.
America's paper companies are committed to recovering half of all paper used in the year
2000 -- that's our goal.
